A skill that with my knowledge right now that I think I could teach students is SL.2 for k-2. Now being that I have already passed k-2 I should be able to do this no problem. I think that this one is especially useful to give kids the base knowledge on how to process information. Not only when being independent and reading it on their own but when reading out-loud to be able to pick up key information by listening as well. Since i want to teach k-3 this skill is one of the ones that I will be more focused on. A skill that I would need to freshen up on is SL5 9-12. While I know the basis of adding in multimedia objects into a project but I would need to freshen up on how to add some effects.
During the News letter assignment I learned a few new things tat I had no idea word could do. The first was building a column I had no idea that you could preset how many columns you would want  your page to have also being able to pick hoe they are laid out. The second was the border feature. This is something that I can use to make a normal paper more exciting. I can use these tools in the future when I have my own classroom and I need to get out information to the class and want it to be set up in word in news letter style.

ILP #1

For the first ILP I did a course on excel through  Lynda.com. This course taught me a lot about the basics of excel that I did not already know. I learned how to manipulate cells , freeze cells and make specific sections bigger or smaller. This course was helpful for my future as a teacher in case I use excel spreadsheets for grades, projects ext. The way this course was set up was very entertaining well as entertaining as one could make. It was a series of short videos on excel complied into a larger 25 minute one. This made it more enjoyable to listen to since the speaker was always changing. Overall was very useful and gave a multitude of new things to try on excel.  (Proof of finishing the course)

As a student I have used MS word more times then I can count. MS word is used for many different things. As a student I have used it mostly for writing papers or any written assignment where typing is aloud. I have seen teachers use MS word in a similar fashion although I have also seen them use it to make tests, write syllabuses and a multitude of other things. Teachers can also use it to make graphics that are printable to help with lesson.
When it comes to experience with copy write every year teachers go over what is and is not plagiarism. The concept of it is quite simple however without quotes or proper citations it is considered plagiarism. As a teacher especially one who wants to work with kids k-3 it is important to make the ground rules for plagiarism. I would not necessarily deal with kids who are plagiarizing more just teaching them the foundation of not copying someone else work and calling it their own. In my classroom I would just highlight to kids to be proud of their own works so they won't wan to copy others work due to the fact they will be so proud of their own.
Three issues that I would challenge are the common core, politics, and controversial issues. So for common core I would follow the guidelines given by the school in order to suffice with that however then I would collaborate with teachers school wide and county wide to make sure that across the board my students would be able to jut into another classroom and flourish. Politics, now being in an elementary setting this issues won't be huge except for talking about the president and his job in our country. I would also make sure that the kids know that all opinions are valid and that we don't go against anyone else believes.  Controversial issues would be looked at similarly to politics in the manner that there is no wrong or right at this age I believe that it is imperative to make the foundation that everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Technology is something that is becoming more and more relevant today. Daily you see new apps and devises coming out in order to help society. I think that teachers are so encouraged to use technology in the classroom because it is becoming something that so so easily accessible. Students are inspired to use technology because it is something that they are comfortable with and enjoy exploring. This starts the cycle of teachers wanting to use it because seeing their students more engaged and inspired it helps to spark new innovative ways to explain new content. Also being able to get content so quickly on technology weather its information or electronic grades it helps to move the classroom forward at a faster pace as opposed to looking things up the old fashioned way.
Before this class I had no idea that there was even such a thing known as ISTE Standards for teachers let alone students. One standard that is meaningful to me is the Creative Communicator one. I know that for me personally I am not the strongest writer so writing an essay can be challenging for me. However give me a PowerPoint to make and I can make it so through and creative my points will come out so much better. For that reason I think technology is such a good thing for teachers to use because it helps so many kids who may not excel at traditional essays but excel at something else. One skill that is outside of my current skillset is being a Global Collaborator. In my high school I did not use technology regularly so I am fine at it individually however I don't even know the platforms to use in order to collaborate with those nationally and then globally. However this skill maybe outside my skillset but I feel like it is one that could be extremely useful and interesting to utilize.
Digital natives are people who have grown up with technology and can't remember society without it. I would agree that today being a student in the time era of digital natives that it is very true that compared to teachers today we seem to be much more knowledgeable in general when it comes to knowing about technology. However more and more teachers today are also part of the digital native group however the younger generations are more comfortable in the world of apple and Microsoft then ever before. I think that the difference between my current students and me will be less drastic then those in previous generations. Being born at the tail end of the 90's (1999) I have grown up with technology and social media being apart of daily life. While I am sure that as we get older and the times change new technologies will come out but du to the early on exposure with technology I feel like the gap of understanding will be much smaller.

My prior experience with technology is fairly basic. I took computer class from kindergarten up until 7th grade however beyond that I have never taken a formal computers class. My high school did not do a lot of online submission or work outside of the website Edmodo so everything beyond that I have learned on my own. Due to the day and age that we live in I would say that I am fairly comfortable with basic technology Since it is apart of my daily life.
During this class I hope to gain a better understanding on how basic applications the computer work. As of now I have the very basics for Microsoft but I would like to become more advanced in order to use the applications to its fullest potential. I am also looking into being a teacher when I am older so I would like to learn new innovative sites and applications to enhance the classroom experience. Overall I would just like to become more comfortable with technology since it is being used more and more each day.
I learned from the learning style questionnaire that I am much better at looking at graphics then I am reading information. I have seen this pattern with myself since I was younger. I am able to pickup the full idea better then I am before the fine details. For me the best way to learn is to have hands on time and be able to explore the topic at hand after watching someone do it so I can replicate it.
