Blog Post 10

I plan to be an elementary school teacher so I defiantly plan to use excel to record data. For lower level elementary school I plan to use excel to record students attendance and grades over the course of the year. From the grades I collected and recorded in excel I would make charts and graphs to have a visual aid to monitor the students progress. I could also have the students make graphs in excel to help them understand how to make a simple chart to show data in a science or math problem.
The blog posts that I enjoyed to look at the most was the posts with teacher websites and resourced. I think that finding out new resources that other people have reviewed and like was super interesting and gave m a bigger bank of items to use for my future classroom. Teaching is as much of a personal thing as it is a community event. This class blog really helped to make a community and form a resource full of new ideas and resources to use.
I would love to learn how to make an online virtual classroom. This would include class power-points, work, grades just a multi-function platform for my class to use and access at home. This is something that I think all schools should provide for their students. This will allow for students to keep up on work in class if they are absent as well as keep parents up to date with what work students will be doing and learning in the class. I plan to achieve this goal by talking to teachers today and seeing how they form their class website in order to form the perfect one for my own class.

A flipped classroom is something that more and more teachers are using. This is the concept that instead of having traditional homework that goes along with the lecture done in class the students watch the lecture at home and do in class activities that correspond. A flipped classroom has been shown to be a more productive way of students learning. This concept forces students to work through the work and forces them to work it out and usually students will find a solution and become more confident in their skills. Flipping the Classroom.
In the podcast there were multiple terms used that used that I could have chose to look up. I chose the term Open content. This is "describe any copyrightable work (traditionally excluding software, which is described by other terms like "open source") that is licensed in a manner that provides users with free and perpetual permission to engage in the 5R activities". This is important for teachers to know what resources they can use without running into copy right laws. Teachers use open content allot in their classrooms in order to provide other resources for children to use. The website I used in order to gain more knowledge was https://opencontent.org/definition/. this Website has so many great ways to learn more about Open Content and all that it can do to help aid teachers and students learning.
The two power point assignments this week were very different considering that they were both done using the same application. The first power point was the kind that I felt very comfortable with the assignment and it was easy to produce and put together without getting confused. However, the non-linear power point was much more challenging. I learned that power points can move in a different order from the typically sequential order. The challenging part was learning how to make the hyperlink within the power point and having it take you to another slide. This required me to watch multiple videos in order to gain the skills to complete the task. Overall I think that power point is a great tool and can be used in multiple different ways.

ILP 2

For this ILP I did another Lynda tutorial on Microsoft Word. This is the tool I use the most on my computer so I figured why not lean more about it. I already knew most of the concepts that the video went over however, it did shoe me some cool tips and tricks on how to do the job faster. It went into detail on all of the different ways to add headers and footers to the paper and different style choices. It also showed how to check the word and character count of the paper. This  course was entertaining for being a video about word. It took a 20 minute video and broke it down into smaller videos with good graphics to support the content. Overall this is a great course for people who just want to know the basics about Microsoft Word.

Adaptive technologies can help and support learners in many ways. They can be used to support students who may have a learning disability or those who may not process as fast as others. Giving a child tools to stay on track with their peers can be so beneficial just beyond in the classroom. By allowing children to use technology can build their self confidence and provide them the skills to get work done in a timely manner. I do not know of anyone personally who has needed adaptive technology. However, my aunt who is a teacher has had kids who need adaptive technology and her stories of how they flourish with it is amazing.
Using adaptive technology can be a good thing for those who need it be can be a distraction to those who do not need it. Making sure that the technology is not distracting others around them could be a challenge that it poses, as well as making sure that students aren't jealous of those who have are using adaptive technology. Making sure that whatever the class is doing has a technology friendly version for those who need it can also be a challenge. The last biggest thing is to make sure that the students who are allowed access to the technologies are using it responsibly and not abusing the power.

So far my expirence with twitter has been pretty good. I would say that it is a fairly easy website to use and function. Benefits of using Twitter are: it is very easy to communicate short thoughts to one another. Also it is easy to have a class disccussion and respond to one another when using a common hashtag. The only thing that I dins difficult is remembering to use the hashtag when I tweet and going back in to add it can be hard to do.
Before the Web Page Design I hd never really made a web page. This project was interesting in the fact that I got to design a page from start to end. I liked how user friendly it was when creating the site, it also had good templates to choose from. In the future I think that I will be able to navigate the site better and complete my web page faster. I can use this in my future career in making my class web page. https://erw17d.wixsite.com/kindergarten
Digo is a tool that I have not used in the past but I think that it is a very useful tool. I have learned how to annotate a web page and how to make a class or group so that others can view my work. This could be useful in teaching in order to share articles or work with co teachers. Also to annotate ideas in meeting minutes in order to get ideas across and allow others to see it. It can be useful in the classroom to have children all read an article and annotate it, while they do that they can see what their peer found important or interesting.

Blog Post 6

The school that i decided to find a teachers website at was my old elementary school. Lewis elementary in Solon Ohio. They have a school website and each teacher has the option to obtain a personal class page. Each teacher has a standard design with tabs on the side with: contact info, calendars, class news, resources and helpful documents. When you first pull up the site it gives a little personal note from the teacher welcoming you to their class. The class I looked at was a kindergarten class page. https://www.solonschools.org/Page/1206
I plan to use technology within the classroom in my instruction and in communication with the parents. Today there are so many ways to utilize technology in schools during instructional time I plan to use it to enforce ideas and concepts being learned in the classroom. I would want to use interactive devices in order to get kids more involved. Along with using email and class blog/website to relay information to the parents.
The first device is the Sphero. This is a small ball device that connects through Bluetooth connection to, phones, tablets, computers etcetera. The device is used for gaming along with being a reality component to your smart device. I would love to see how teacher are incorporating these into their classrooms as an educational aid. The next piece of technology that I would love to know more about is the SMART kapp. This is a device produced by the same people who make the SMART board. The SMART Kapp is a dry erase board that can be accessed virtually through the app or by a shared link. I am intrigued by this device because I think that it could really revolutionize how kids stay in track if they have to miss a day of school. I think that if more schools got this device they could track and see if it truly does make a difference when kids are gone. Also, it is like a living notebook, so you can go back and compare notes that you have used in the past. The last piece of technology that I am interested in learning more about is 3d doodle pen. This is a device that rapidly heats and cools plastic allowing users to make 3d designs without having to wait hours for them to develop. I think this could be cool to use in a classroom to teach kids about shapes, designs, ad to foster their overall creativity.
